As the war in Israel continues to spiral into a larger conflict that threatens to engulf the entire region in a shooting war, I can't help but note the reaction of the liberals both in America and abroad.  It is high time that Israel be allowed to defend themselves.  To demand that Israel allow its cities to be bombarded with missiles fired from Palestinian territories and not retaliate is to demand that Israel give up its right to exist. 

The Palestinians have proven by their actions in Gaza that they have no intention of ever acknowledging Israel's right to exist.  Almost from the moment Israel moved out of the Gaza the Palestinians started building that tunnel that they used to kidnap an Israeli soldier.  I've seen people around the net argue that the Palestinians will never be happy until Israel ceases to exist.  I'm not completely sure that even then they'd be content.  It would take the expulsion of every Jew from the Middle East before the Palestinians would even consider laying down their bombs. 

It is time that the west (and Americans in particular) realize that it is the same ideology that caused people to fly planes into the World Trade center, is causing people to try and kill our soldiers in Iraq and is exacerbating this crisis in the Middle East.  So long as we continue to treat these as separate conflicts the jihadists will take this as a sign of weakness that they will continue to exploit.
